‘Weak’ quake near Te Kaha

An earthquake being described as “weak” intensity has been recorded near Te Kaha.

The quake hit around 5.30am and had a magnitude of 3.5.

According to GeoNet, the earthquake was 51km deep and was centred 10km north-west of Te Kaha.

This shake came after an “unnoticeable” earthquake near White Island just after 5am.

GeoNet says the quake had a magnitude of 3.2 and was 89km deep.
